Purity

1 November 2005

Having not tested out my new Canon Powershot S2 IS camera, I've decided to have my first serious photo outing at the KL Orchid Garden, together with Johanna and her friend Adrian Koh, who is a great photographer to provide some tips and comments.

The first species that excited me at the orchid garden was not any of the orchids. Instead, it was the blue Egyptian lotus - Nymphaea Caerulea.

I have seen many great macro shots of Egyptian lotus in LensaMalaysia forums and photo galleries.

To me, lotus equates tranquility and purity. 出淤坭而不染...

Lawn wedding

2 October 2005

This is the 4th wedding I've attended since September. My friend Shaw Jiun had asked me to snap some photos for her during her lawn wedding reception with husband David. This shot of the main table was taken with a tripod before the arrival of the VIPs. This is exactly how the photo turned out, without any post processing. I was really amazed with the colours.

Cherating

24 September 2005

This photo was taken at Cherating Beach, not far from the turtle sanctuary. Johanna & I attended Ozzy & Nini's wedding in Kuantan on that day and decided to take a drive to the East Coast beach. It was my first time at the East Coast after all these years.

This is the first photo in this photo blog taken using my new Canon Powershot S2 IS camera.

Lighting up their lives

18 June 2005

This photo was taken at my colleague Yew Khuen's garden wedding. It's the first garden wedding I've ever attended and it was really amazing.

It is still one of my favourite shots till today.

Romantic Venice

Venice is the most romantic city I've ever been to date.

San Marco Square and its surrounding areas exude the romantic charm no other place could offer. Taken in July 2002, right before I flew back to Malaysia after completing my undergraduate degree.

London

This is probably the best shot of Big Ben I've had to date. Taken in July 2002.

Trip around West Europe

These photos were taken during my trip around Western European countries with my parents after the completion of my first degree. By this time I've already owned my first digital camera, the Canon Powershot S30.

A picture speaks a thousand words

I've been undecided for the last few months whether to build my own photo blog or to use a third party one such as this one. In the end I've decided that this is the more time-efficient way since my MSc has been more demanding than I've imagined.

The next question is where to start? After some thoughts, I've decided to start off with the photos I shot since May 2000. I went on a trip to Amsterdam with my Msc senior at that time, Wei Cheong. He was already an owner of an SLR camera (non-digital) at that time. I only had a Olympus mju 2. Anyway, here is the most memorable shot I have taken from the trip, taken by the side of a canal in the old town of Amsterdam.
